I’m Calvin Chiu, a landscape photographer based out of the San Francisco Bay Area.
At its core, photography, and art more generally, comes from a personal desire to express to others how we see the world. I never felt satisfied with taking home someone else’s photograph of a place I visited, I have always wanted my own. That drive has pushed me to shoot more photos and visit more places. Through my photographs I hope to share with you how I see the world.
I also see photography as a means of showcasing the fragility of the wilderness areas we love. I believe that we have a responsibility to be good stewards of our public lands. Many of these places I photograph will be altered by the effects of climate change in the coming decades. I hope that my images, along with those of other photographers, can bring more awareness to the need to protect our wild lands for future generations.
