Aspen and Blooming Fireweed, Bishop Creek Canyon
I photographed this aspen and fireweed on an August 2023 trip to the Sierra. Tropical Storm Hilary had just swept through the area, and I ventured out into Bishop Creek Canyon to look for wildflowers alongside the road. I found a blooming fireweed flower perched right next to an aspen tree and immediately felt drawn to the scene.
Looking at this photo, one would be hard-pressed to find out it was taken less than ten feet away from the road. Having seen all the cars drive past, it felt like I had found a special scene all to myself.
