Jeffrey Pine at Sentinel Dome, Yosemite National Park
I made this photograph at the tail end of an August 2021 trip in which I backpacked in the Ansel Adams Wilderness. On my way back, I passed through Yosemite and met up with my friend Blake Johnston, and we hiked up to Sentinel Dome together to catch sunset. At the top, I saw this peculiar Jeffrey Pine leaning against some of the larger boulders. I kindly asked some people sitting at the base of the tree if they wouldn’t mind relocating, and then created this photograph.
