Mountain Stream at Sunrise Beneath the Minarets, Ansel Adams Wilderness
I had a specific sunrise shot in mind when I camped out at Iceberg Lake at the end of a four day long backpacking trip. At the last moment, I decided to try something different. This composition caught my eye, and I played around with my tripod to find just the right camera angle. I stacked two sets of graduated neutral density filters in front of the lens to account for the difference between the shadows and highlights, and bracketed a few shots using a combination of exposures and filter placements. To me, this picture perfectly encapsulates my trip. It captures the serenity I felt being the only person camped out at the lake, as well as the beauty of the backcountry within which I spent the better part of a week.
