Storm Clouds at Dusk, Mono Lake
I captured this photograph on my February 2022 trip to the Eastern Sierra, just a few minutes prior to a different one, “Lenticular Cloud over Mono Lake Tufas, Eastern Sierra.” The prospects for sunset that day initially did not look good. Clouds obscured the sun as it dipped below the mountains. Despite that, I stuck around to see what would happen anyway, and I’m glad I did. Within minutes, the clouds on the eastern horizon began to turn pink.
